Hi I'm Tristan. I'm a student UC San Diego studying in Computer Science - AI. I'm interested in deep learning, mechanistic interpretability, philosophy, and math.
Previously, I was a Research Engineer dmodel (YC S24), where I helped build an internal v0 product and RL environments for frontier AI labs.
In the past year, I've struggled a lot with my AI usage and intellectual life and have spent a lot of time asking peers and teachers on the best intermediate in the modern world. So far, I've tried my best to return the age of learning pre-LLM and only asking questions to either simplify or question my view. I'd love to talk more about this to anyone.
Outside of tech, I am a pianist and a photographer. Here are some of my favorite photos. I listen to all sorts of music: r&b, classical, rap, jazz, etc. I love watching movies, taking photos, going on hikes, and working out.
